Cynthia has had a deep passion and love for yoga ever since she stepped into her first yoga elective class at Arizona State University. Yoga came in and out of her life for the next three years, but it wasn’t until she packed all of her belongings into her car and moved to Seattle, did yoga become the forefront of her life.

With a yoga studio a block from her apartment that she began attending classes regularly.  She would walk home after each class feeling euphoric and alive; attributing it to yoga, but not fully digesting why.  She left Seattle a year later to continue her soul searching but yoga was still a strong influence in her life.  For the next few years, she traveled through many different cities and countries around the world always craving to learn more about the study of yoga. This inner passion led her to the Himalayan Institute where she met an inspirational teacher who introduced her to the study of meditation and allowed her to find the true meaning of yoga in her life.

In the summer of 2003, Cynthia attended the Himalayan Institute’s Teacher Training program in Pennsylvania.  Life led her back to her home state of Illinois where she began to practice at Moksha Yoga Studio in Chicago. Through the support and inspiration of many of her teachers, she was encouraged to train with Daren Friesen and enroll in his Teacher Training program in 2006

Through her teacher trainings and personal quest for knowledge she has had the wonderful fortune of studying with; Pandit Jerome Smith, Ana Forrest, Tias Little, Gabriel Halpern, Sandy Anderson, Rolf Solvic, Daren Friesen, Sean Corn, Rich Logan and the beloved Janell Cox .

Cynthia has been influenced by Iyengar, Anusara and Vinyasa styles of yoga.  In her classes she creates a fun atmosphere for her students to create strength and to become in touch with their bodies.  “The asanas are beautiful, fun, and a wonderful dance with life”; but most importantly to her is that her students leave each class with a deeper understanding of their true self and a heart that is open to the idea that there is a light that resides in each and every person and it is a personal choice to turn it on.
